Let's WISH AS ONE to Bring Joy to the People of Myanmar

A quick update on one of my biggest wishes...

It began with a vision. A million people wishing at once. That’s how my big ideas come to me. A flash of insight, followed by the task of reverse engineering the manifestation of the vision, like seeing the full picture, then the image breaks into 1,000 pieces and the puzzle spills on the table, ready for me to take the time, energy and effort to put it back together again.

Sometimes a vision comes as a download in the shower. Sometimes it’s a flash during a meditation, and sometimes it’s a whisper of knowing while I’m walking on the beach.

A million people wishing at once…That one really stumped me. How the heck would I make that wish come true?

Fortunately, I have some incredible people in my world, and I asked one of the most creative people I know, Vanessa Till Hooper, to help me solve the puzzle. She’s the Founder of Studio HHH  and a dear friend for many years.

We met on Zoom for over a year before we launched WISH AS ONE - an "Interactive artwork" experience that brings people together to wish for a collective intention while generating unique artwork that captures the magic of the moment.

And…we have an exciting announcement about our latest WISH AS ONE project.

You’re invited to wish with us and enjoy the GLOBAL RELEASE of WISH AS ONE: JOY HOUSE, a virtual concert uniting artists from around the world in celebration of joy, resilience, and solidarity.

This virtual concert features performances by Myanmar’s Lynn Lynn, violinist Phoe San, The Brothers Koren, and the global collaboration “Send the Wind” written by The Durgas in 2008 and reimagined and performed with artists from around the world.

The opposite of oppression is expression.

With so many conflicts raging in the world, entire communities live in a state of unrelenting stress, trauma, and despair – unable to access the joy that is their birthright.

For decades, Myanmar (formerly Burma), has experienced ongoing warfare and gross human rights violations. Currently thousands of people are being detained and tortured, while daily airstrikes have internally displaced millions and driven thousands of Burmese people to cross the border into neighboring Thailand.

In Mae Sot, a small city along the western border of Myanmar, a community center called Joy House has created a safe refuge, a place for planting seeds of hope, and a space for building back the deep humanity that can be fostered through creative expression.

At Joy House a small team of professional artists from Myanmar, create workshops and classes in music, visual arts, poetry, dance, and storytelling, empowering the local community to heal and rediscover joy.

This fundraising event aims to purchase 1,000 musical instruments to empower professional artists who have fled Myanmar to uplift their community through music and expressive arts. Instruments will also be shared with local Thai schools and delivered to refugees displaced within Myanmar.

For the entire month of January, you can make a wish, access the concert, and if you feel so inspired, make a donation as a gesture of support.

Whether or not you can contribute, we invite you to send a wish to the Joy House community to be included in the final WISH AS ONE artwork. 💌

Together, we can WISH AS ONE and create a brighter future through music and art. Let’s heal through creativity, plant seeds of hope, and make change a reality.
